Who We Love: Mia Evans, MasterChef Junior Contestant

If you watched this season of  MasterChef Junior, you probably remember vegetarian contestant Mia Evans. Mia is 12 years old and was born with a rare genetic condition called PKU that requires her to follow a strict, low-protein, diet for life. Mia learned to cook so she could maintain her diet and used her cooking skills to earn a spot on MasterChef Junior.

We talked to Mia about her favorite things to cook and eat, what being a vegetarian means, and we also learned a little bit about PKU.

National Oatmeal Month

Happy National Oatmeal Month! We don’t usually celebrate oatmeal, but we do eat it a lot. So this January, we’re taking a few extra opportunities to put one of our favorite breakfast foods in the spotlight. Here are four kinds of oatmeal you can make this month. We have recipes for basic oatmeal, hearty oatmeal, a fruity oatmeal, and even a savory oatmeal.

It’s been a few weeks since the launch of our ChopChop Test Kitchen Campaign, and we are 11% funded! Thanks to everyone who contributed. We launched this crowd funding campaign to build the ChopChop Test Kitchen where we can test recipes, host workshops and teach cooking classes through the ChopChop Cooking Lab. ChopChop Cooking Labs teach children food literacy, how make healthful choices, and how to use basic kitchen utensils to prepare simple meals.
